Abs(tin)ence makes the heart grow fonder

So maybe I’m spending too much time (no!) drooling over other people’s food, reading up on other people’s babies and boyfriends and neglecting some stuff that actually warrants my attention…..

The water company sent me a notice that I may have forgotten to pay last month’s bill. Of course, they didn’t really put it that way.

The freaking Christmas wreath is STILL waving a sad and decrepit hello from above the porch window.

The bassinet is still sitting in the plastic bag waiting for the day I might actually return it.

This month’s book club book remains untouched.
Etc, etc, etc.

So a self-imposed ban on all things internet for a week (save work email).

Parting quote/name that tune:

‘If wishes were trees, trees would be falling. This is the reason the season is calling.’

I may have butchered it…I do that sometimes, but at least I didn’t sing ‘Carry a Laser’ instead of [that wacky 80’s, or was it 90’s tune] ‘Kyrie Eleison’.

  1. Embarrassed to say it, Amy figured out the R.E.M. tune before I did. If you would have quoted Right Said Fred or Frankie Goes to Hollywood, I would have gotten it right away.

  2. …oh, but isn’t it “Listen to reason, the season is calling”? Or have I always sung it incorrectly?
Ask Amy about her favorite misunderstood lyrics some time.

  3. and ask Dan where this verse is in the Bible…”teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he’ll eat forever.” 🙂
[Dan replies] It’s in the apocrypha — Arrested Development 1:5

[Amy again] aren’t you glad that we can have our morning spat on your blog. Makes you miss us all the more I am sure.
